HERE’S SOMETHING TO GET THE DAY STARTED. I got it from a Jack Kornfield podcast. I like to meditate in the morning and repeat these words several times in my mind. It creates an amazing sense of being at home in the world and helps me to let go of the desire to control.
May I be filled with loving-kindness.
May I be safe from inner and outer dangers.
May I be well in body and mind.
May I be at ease and happy.
Next, and this is the more difficult part. I focus on a person who for me is, well…”challenging,” and I change the pronoun to you. I repeat this refrain several times while keeping this person in my mind.

The second refrain helps me to become more compassionate and understanding of others. Ultimately, this leads to more compassion and understanding for myself, which helps me to be a more loving husband, son, father, etc…
