from the song, Grey Leaf Waltz, by j. guerra.

Here are the complete lyrics if you care to have a read. I wrote this song several months ago to, Depression, my oldest companion. It’s a song about the long, slow climb out of depression, a true hero’s journey. I’ll add a video of the song once I learn how to do that! :~)

Grey Leaf Waltz

All around, Mr. Sun.

Turn around, we’ve begun.

Can you see

another lovely day?

Play a part

in the scene.

Take a turn,

make believe.

Come again,

and take the easy way.

It’s a long way back – To the long way back – To Grey.

Disappear, dissipate.

Like to congratulate

everyone

for waking up today.

Spin the dial,

wait and see,

sweet serendipity.

God is good,

I love to hear you say.

It’s a long way back – To the long way back – To Grey.

(I’m just trying to make it through. Darling, how about you?)

{BRIDGE}

Grey leaf in the morning.

There’s another way to see.

I can throw off all weight

Of all the trouble, troubling me.

We can wait until tomorrow.

Everybody’s heard the song.

We can break another prison.

We can right another wrong.

‘Cause I’m trying,

and I’m trying,

to belong.

Oh and if I had a nickel

for each time I let you down,

we could build a nickel castle,

put it high up off the ground.

And surrounded by the payment

of a million broken dreams,

we could live out all tomorrows

and forgive the penalties.

‘Cause I’m trying,

and I’m trying,

to believe.

{BRIDGE INSIDE A BRIDGE}

I’ve been on this roller coaster for so long

it’s going up, it’s going down.

And I know that with you baby

I can get my feet back firmly on the ground.

{BRIDGE CONTINUED}

Will you tell me where were going?

 Tell me why we’ve been.

And forgive me for the hundredth time,

for another little sin.

And we’ll step into the future

on the promise of a pill.

We’ll let go of the burden,

surrender to the will,

of a power,

of a moment,

that is real.

(I’m just trying to make it through. Darling, how about you?)

My mind is racing

and my feet are pacing

and I’m looking up

at the sky

with a question.

And I see you blinking,

God’s eyes show he’s thinking,

and blue is the color of day.

It’s a long way back – To the long way back – To Grey.

Maybe tomorrow

you’re free of the sorrow

that makes all the colors

look brighter than ever.

And voices will sound

like they should when they’re spoken.

And how can I feel blue in May?

It’s a long way back – To the long way back – To Grey.
