IT’S OKAY TO BE DEPRESSED. We don’t have any control over having this illness. What we do have control over is how we react. We shouldn’t expect to be completely free of depression. It’s a part of us, just like our hair color. But we do have the responsibility to react, or rather respond, when we feel our moods dropping. Don’t get me wrong. It ain’t easy. Trying to get up and go when our moods are low is like the Wright Brothers attempting a flight to the moon. But we have to try. We have to take steps, however small, and keep moving, if not forward, than sideways. Just not backward. And realize that when our depressed mind tells us that everything is wrong, empty, or pointless, it’s just a big fat liar. Life is always meaningful, although depression would have us believe otherwise. So get up, don’t stop, and things will get better. We’ll do it together.
Stay the course. Keep the faith. You’re a hero.
